INTO BLOOM: Where Art and Clothing Meet

INTO BLOOM: Where Art and Clothing Meet

An exhibition by artist and designer Revital Lev

At the end of September 2026, artist and fashion designer Revital Lev opened INTO BLOOM, her first local painting exhibition, at the Garage Gallery in Mullumbimby, in the beautiful Byron Shire of Northern NSW.

The exhibition brought together Revital's expressive paintings, silk fabric sculptures and a curated selection of pieces from her fashion label, RE.V.TAL. It was a meeting of different creative worlds, connected by a shared exploration of femininity, nature, movement and transformation.

For Revital, INTO BLOOM was more than an exhibition. It was an opportunity to share a deeply personal part of her creative life, one that had largely remained private for many years.

A lifelong connection to art

Revital has been painting since childhood. Art has always been a natural form of expression for her, a way to explore emotions, imagination and the world around her.

Although creativity remained central to her life through fashion design, painting took a back seat during the busy years of raising her two daughters. For around seven years, her brushes and canvases were set aside.

When she eventually returned to painting, she found herself drawn to flowers.

Not traditional botanical paintings, but sensual, abstract and expressive interpretations of flowers. Flowing forms, dripping colors, soft layers and organic movement began to emerge on her canvases.

Her paintings explore the feminine qualities she sees in nature: softness and strength, vulnerability and sensuality, growth and transformation.

Working primarily with oil paints, Revital approaches painting intuitively, allowing the colors, textures and shapes to develop naturally rather than following a predetermined outcome.

Painting has become a form of meditation in color, a space to slow down, connect with herself and create freely.

Where painting, sculpture and fashion meet

One of the distinctive elements of INTO BLOOM was the way Revital brought together her different creative practices.

Alongside her paintings, she presented sculptural forms created from silk fabrics, extending her exploration of movement and organic shapes beyond the canvas.

The exhibition also included a curated presentation of garments from RE.V.TAL, her contemporary women's fashion label.

Revital has spent more than two decades designing clothing. Together with her partner Alex, she has been the creative force behind Fairy Floss, the alternative fashion label that became part of Byron Bay's vibrant creative and festival culture.

When she turned 50, a new creative chapter began with RE.V.TAL. The label reflects her evolving relationship with femininity, the body and self-expression, through sophisticated cuts, beautiful fabrics and garments designed for comfort, movement and individuality.

Although painting and fashion may seem like different disciplines, for Revital they come from the same creative place. Both explore the relationship between fabric or colour, the female form, movement and the freedom to express one's individuality.

INTO BLOOM offered visitors an opportunity to experience these connections in one intimate space.

Opening the doors to a personal creative world

Held from 30 September to 5 October 2026, the exhibition welcomed visitors into the Garage Gallery, where paintings, sculptures and garments created a conversation between art and wearable design.

The opening was a warm gathering of friends, local creatives and members of the Byron Shire community. Visitors explored the paintings and sketchbooks, tried on clothing and jewellery, and shared conversations about art and creativity.

For Revital, who had kept much of her painting practice private for so long, sharing this work publicly was both a vulnerable and rewarding experience.

INTO BLOOM was a celebration of creativity in its many forms, of women, nature, personal transformation and the beauty that emerges when we allow ourselves to grow and change.
