Beyond Fashion: Revital Lev on Creativity & Reinvention | BayFM Radio INTERVIEW

In Conversation with Revital Lev – Creativity, Reinvention & INTO BLOOM

Ahead of her INTO BLOOM exhibition at Garage Gallery in Mullumbimby, artist and fashion designer Revital Lev joined local radio host Nathan Kaye for a heartfelt conversation about her creative journey, the evolution from Fairy Floss to RE.V.TAL, her lifelong love of painting, and the courage to keep reinventing herself.

Listen to the full radio interview to hear Revital share her story, her experiences as a fashion designer and artist, and her reflections on creativity, perseverance and beginning again at any age.

Inside the Conversation: Highlights from the Interview-

From Fairy Floss to RE.V.TAL – A New Creative Chapter

After more than 20 years designing for Fairy Floss, the alternative fashion label she built alongside her husband Alex, Revital felt a new creative direction emerging as she approached 50.

Inspired by her own experience of ageing, menopause and the changes women go through, she began designing clothing that offered comfort, freedom of movement and beautiful fabrics, while still celebrating femininity, sensuality and individuality.

This led to the creation of RE.V.TAL, a fashion label reflecting a new stage of her life.

Starting a new business brought unexpected challenges. Finding a different audience, learning to navigate social media and becoming the face of her own brand pushed Revital beyond her familiar role as a behind-the-scenes designer.

For Revital, this new chapter has been as much about personal growth and authenticity as it has been about fashion.

When Painting and Fashion Meet

Although painting has been part of Revital's life since childhood, it had always remained a deeply personal practice, a form of meditation and creative freedom away from the commercial world.

When she discovered Garage Gallery while searching for a pop-up space for RE.V.TAL, the idea of bringing her two creative worlds together began to take shape.

INTO BLOOM became an opportunity to showcase her paintings alongside her clothing collections, exploring their shared inspiration in women, flowers, femininity and transformation.

Some of her paintings have also found their way onto fabric, creating a beautiful connection between wearable art and visual art.

Preparing for the exhibition awakened a renewed sense of artistic freedom, encouraging Revital to experiment with new ideas and reconnect with the simple joy of creating.

Perseverance, Authenticity and Thinking Outside the Box

An important part of the interview explored the realities of building and sustaining a creative business.

Drawing on her experience with Fairy Floss and the challenges of establishing RE.V.TAL, Revital shared one of the most valuable lessons she has learned:

"The key to success is perseverance."

She explained that success is not necessarily determined by money, connections or even talent, but by the willingness to continue showing up, particularly during difficult times.

Another important theme was learning to separate the joy of creativity from the pressure of achieving a particular outcome.

For Revital, creativity is not limited to designing clothing or painting. It also means finding unconventional ways to share her work, connect with people and adapt when familiar approaches no longer work.

INTO BLOOM itself became an example of this philosophy, bringing art and fashion together in a gallery setting and creating something different from a traditional exhibition or fashion pop-up.

Redefining Success and Embracing New Beginnings

The conversation also touched on how the meaning of success evolves with age and experience.

Rather than measuring achievement only through financial growth or recognition, Revital and Nathan reflected on the importance of meaningful work, contributing to the community and finding fulfilment in doing what one loves.

Throughout the interview, a common thread emerged: the importance of staying connected to creativity, remaining open to change and having the courage to step beyond what feels comfortable.

INTO BLOOM represents this journey beautifully. More than an exhibition, it marks a moment of creative rediscovery, where two artistic worlds meet and new possibilities begin to unfold.
